47 Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In Marin County

"All of us are at risk for becoming sick with COVID-19," said Dr. Lisa Santora, the county's deputy public health officer.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Marin County has reached 47, the county announced Monday evening.

Five people have been hospitalized for coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, but there have been no deaths.

A total of 480 tests have been conducted at the county's drive-through testing facility.

There were 38 county cases on Sunday. Dr. Matt Willis, the county's public health officer, announced Monday he was diagnosed with COVID-19 and became Marin's 39th confirmed case.

Dr. Lisa Santora, the county's deputy public health officer, will head the Emergency Operations Center while Willis recovers.

"This virus has spread rapidly across the world affecting people of all ages. We are now seeing local transmission of COVID-19 in Marin County," Santora said. "All of us are at risk for becoming sick with COVID-19. We must stay vigilant, practice good hygiene and follow orders to shelter in place, including suspending non-essential travel."
