• Alaska Airlines plans to drop two Santa Rosa routes as Delta preps to start local service (pressdemocrat.com) — If you fly in or out of Sonoma County's airport, expect changes this fall: Alaska Airlines has canceled its planned Salt Lake City route and will end Ontario flights Oct. 31, while still adding Boise and Phoenix Nov. 1. Delta is stepping in with new Santa Rosa–Salt Lake City service starting Oct. 6, as the airport sets passenger records and prepares for further growth.
   

• employment-job-market-sonoma-solano-marin-mendocino-napa-lake (fresnobee.com) — Sonoma County's unemployment rate has fallen to 4.5%, but economists note that's partly because fewer residents are in the labor force, not because lots more people are working. A new report shows healthcare and other services driving job growth across the North Bay, while Sonoma, Marin and Napa all see shrinking workforces that may reflect retirements or people leaving the region.
