• Sonoma Council Taps New City Manager (patch.com) — Sonoma residents are poised to see interim city manager Cristine Alilovich formally appointed after the City Council selected her as the top candidate to lead City Hall. With decades of public-sector experience and prior roles in Sonoma and Marin counties, she would oversee the city's nearly $45 million budget and help advance key local initiatives if her contract is approved September 2.
   

• MacArthur Park Charter School Opening (sonomasun.com) — A new MacArthur Park Charter School has opened on Sonoma's former Prestwood Elementary campus, enrolling 196 students and using Sonoma Valley Unified's core textbooks. The STEAM-focused charter, now the district's third, follows a contentious board decision that closed Prestwood and approved $2.3 million in district funding for the school's first year.
   

• Family members recall Sonoman Gretchen Gardner's creativity, contributions (sonomanews.com) — Sonoma is remembering Gretchen Schenck Gardner, an 81-year-old advertising pioneer and beloved community member known locally for her lavish parties, creative spirit, and support of groups like Impact100 Sonoma, Sonoma Plein Air, Pets Lifeline and Sonoma Community Center. After moving to Sonoma in 2008, she helped shape local arts and philanthropy while hosting countless gatherings at the east hills home she designed.
