A business executive gets 2 years in prison for fraud scheme; arrest made in beach shooting; and more in police, fire and courts this week.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Here's a collection of police, fire and courts news from around the county this week:

The shooting took place August 2, but witnesses weren't willing to identify the shooter, the sheriff's office said.

The fires burned 86,500 acres and 925 homes.

Beachgoers called in a man drinking from a vodka bottle with an apparent gun protruding from his backpack.

A man was found near Depot Park early Sunday morning, nonresponsive after suffering multiple stab wounds, police said.

A Santa Cruz man led offers on a pursuit through Capitola and all the way into Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

He is ordered to pay $1.5 million in restitution for fraud and money laundering, prosecutors say.

Police said a search on Friday turned up two guns in the man's house.

Assistance will be available Monday and Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Boulder Creek.
