4th Of July Holiday Crime And Accident Stats Released By Connecticut State Police
State police released numbers concerning crashes, fatal accidents, traffic violations and DUI arrests over the 4th of July holiday.
CONNECTICUT — State police responded to nearly 300 crashes over the July 4 weekend, including two fatal incidents. There were 37 crashes with at least one injury.
Troopers responded to more crashes, injuries and deaths during the 2021 July 4 weekend. There were 381 crashes, including 52 with injury and three fatalities.
AAA predicted a busy traveling weekend for the Northeast and the country in general. Nearly 48 million travelers were expected to drive, fly or cruise more than 50 miles this year.

State police made a total of 50 DUI arrests between July 1 and July 4 this, compared with 26 DUI arrests during the 2021 July 4 weekend.

Troopers issued 910 violations this year, compared with 978 in 2021 and 748 in 2020. The numbers are a far cry from the nearly 1,900 violations issued in 2019.
July 4 fell on a Thursday in 2019, Saturday in 2020, Sunday in 2021 and Monday this year.
