CONNECTICUT — The latest Hidden Gem is a wood-fired pizza restaurant on wheels that brings the thin-crust Connecticut tradition to just about anywhere.

Welcome to the Mazz Pizza Company Truck.

The South Windsor-based mobile restaurant is owned and operated by Paul Mazzarella, who has spent more than 25 years in the pizza business. The truck serves up traditional thin crust, New Haven-style pies that cook up in minutes after a stop inside an 850-degree brick oven.

The truck can show up to events, homes and businesses. One example was last weekend at a private function in Ellington. The truck rolled in, the chef fired up the oven, and in a short period of time had a variety of pizzas on the table with two salad choices.

Traditional sauce and white pies were featured with a variety of toppings. A gluten-free pizza request was accommodated in about 10 minutes.
