East Haven 2019 Local Election Candidates, Polling Places, Hours

EAST HAVEN, CT —As voters head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 5 to vote in East Haven’s municipal election, here's what you need to know.

The position of mayor and town clerk, as well as the Town Council and spots on the boards of education and finance are all up for grabs.

This is a sweeping and contested race almost across the board, with Democrat Joseph “Joe” A. Carfora facing off against Republican ‘Big’ Steve Tracey and Independent Bonifacio G. ‘Oni’ Sioson, Jr. for East Haven mayor.

And the fields for Town Council, and the Boards of Finance and Education are similarly full. Republican Stacey Gravino and Democrat Tina M. Hedley are facing off for Town Clerk.

The races and candidates

Town Council, 1st District

In the first district, the choices for the Town Council are Democrats Kimberly Glassman, Beth Capotorto, and Ashley Cahill Lesco and Republicans Ken McKay, Judy Sittnick and Robert Parente. Voters pick any three.

Town Council, 2nd District

Second district Town Council candidates are Democrats Nicholas R. Palladino, Joseph E. Deko, and Joe Santino. Republican candidates are Salvatore R. Maltese, Gary M. DePalma, and Luann Scarpellino. Voters choose any three.

Town Council, 3rd District

Third district candidates for Town Council are Republicans Linda Simoni, Bill Richarson, and Judy Esposito. Democrats are Josh Balter, Marianne Cesare and Louis G. Pacelli. Voters choose any three.

Town Council, 4th District

The fourth district candidates for Town Council are Democrats Charles J Coyle Jr., Joseph Badamo, and Michelle M. Benivegna. Republicans are Linda Hennessey, Robert Ranfone, and Samantha Parlato. Vote for any three.

Town Council, 5th District

The fifth district candidates for Town Council are Republicans Richard C. Anania, Loria Jaffee, and Maurice L. Adams. The Democratic candidates are Henry Butler III, Jennifer Ruggiero, and Raymond D. Pompano. Voters choose three.

Board of Education

The choices for Board of Education are Democrats MaryAnn Pellegrino, John R. (Jack) Stacey, Jr., Erika Santino Santiago, Michele A. DeLuca, Liz Esposito, and Patricia J. (Tia) DePalma. The Republican candidates are Lisa Geraci-Anastasio, Jennifer DiLungo, Thomas Hennessey, Beverly Gravino, JoAnne DePalma and Donna Richo. Voters choose any six.

Board of Finance

The choices for the Board of Finance are Republicans Michael Enders, Ralph J. Vitale, Beth Purcell and James Roaix and Democrats Richard Esposito Jr., Noreen E. Clough, Richard DePalma and Alfred Purzycki. Voters choose any four.

What else you need to know

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

Connecticut offers Election Day registration, but those who arrive need to be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote. Unlike previously registered voters standing in line before 8 p.m. to register won't guarantee the ability to vote.
