Clown Sighting Prompts Police Presence at Hamden Schools: Report
Police are investigating after a clown was reportedly spotted around school grounds early Thursday morning but nothing suspicious was found.

HAMDEN, CT — There is an increased police presence around Hamden schools as a precaution after a clown was reportedly spotted near or around school property before students arrived on Thursday morning, according to WTNH News 8.
WTNH News 8 reports there is currently a police presence at Bear Path School and increased patrols around all Hamden school buildings as police continue to investigate.
A search was conducted after officials received the reported clown sighting but no suspicious people or activity were found, according to WTNH News 8.

A number of vague creepy clown threats have popped up on social media lately across Connecticut.
The trend in Connecticut and elsewhere in the country has some on edge, but many threats have already been ruled not credible by local police departments and officials.

Three teens were arrested by Ansonia Police in connection with social media threats. Teens were also arrested in Naugatuck on Tuesday related to prank threats.
North Haven had an increased police presence at schools on Tuesday while Cheshire and Wallingford schools followed suit on Wednesday after clown-related social media threats were made.
