Today, Mayor Sendroff hosted a meeting with Chief Reynolds, other members of the Police Department, along with town officials and representatives from Hamden Public Schools, non-profit agencies and community organizations to discuss violence intervention, victim and family support, and youth violence prevention strategies. This meeting reaffirmed our collaboration on this critical issue, and we planned a system of regular communication and information sharing with the goal of preventing future violent incidents.
We extend our sincere sympathy to all victims and families affected. Acts of violence cause lasting harm to individuals, families, and our community. We are committed to bringing those responsible to justice and supporting victims.

Gun violence is endemic in our country. Unfortunately, Hamden is not immune to the factors that create this epidemic. Any incident of gun violence is unacceptable, but incidents that involve young people are heart breaking. Gun violence is the number one cause of death for children and teens in the United States.
Both of us have built careers that are rooted in community. We care deeply about this community and share the pain that comes with incidents like this. Addressing gun violence has been a priority for both of us throughout our work in Hamden. It will remain a priority as we continue to work to implement law enforcement and community health strategies to address violent incidents like we’ve seen in the last week.
We plan to use every tool in our toolbox and explore new ways to do everything that we can to prevent future violent incidents.
— Mayor Adam Sendroff and Chief of Police Edward Page Reynolds
