STAMFORD, CT — Bond has been reduced for Kent Mawhinney, the attorney and former friend of the late Fotis Dulos, who is a suspect in the disappearance of Jennifer Farber Dulos, reports News 12 Connecticut.

Mawhinney has been in custody since his arrest in early January on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. He and Michelle Troconis, Fotis Dulos' former girlfriend, are accused of helping Fotis kill his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos. Jennifer disappeared on May 24, 2019, and her body has not been found.

Troconis and Mawhinney have pleaded not guilty in the case. Jennifer and Fotis Dulos were in the midst of an acrimonious divorce and custody fight over their five children at the time of her disappearance. Fotis Dulos was charged with kidnapping and murder, but he died by suicide in January before he could stand trial.

Mawhinney has been held in lieu of bail of $2 million, but under the new court-approved terms, he must put up $50,000 in cash and at least $196,000 in real estate to be released.

Reportedly, Mawhinney was seeking the reduced bond in an effort to secure his release so that he could visit his ill father in Florida.

Currently, Mawhinney remains in custody. Patch reached out to his attorneys, Lee Gold and Jeremy Donnelly, for comment but did not immediately receive a reply. When Mawhinney is anticipated to make bond is not known.

The court also is requiring Mawhinney surrender his passport, and wear a GPS monitoring device, similar to the one worn by Troconis. Additionally, any travel itinerary Mawhinney seeks must receive court approval before he can leave the state.

Troconis' next court date is Nov. 13, Mawhinney's Dec. 24. Separately, Mawhinney faces unrelated charges in connection with a sexual assault case involving one of his former wives.
