Jennifer Dulos Vanished 5 Years Ago; The Grief Over Her Murder Remains
"For us, five years is not a milestone but a marker of cumulative loss and longing." — Carrie Luft, spokesperson for Jennifer Dulos' family.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Friday marks five years since Jennifer Farber Dulos, the New Canaan mother-of-five, vanished from her home, presumably murdered by her estranged husband, the late Fotis Dulos.
Her body has not been found, though in a statement released by her family this week in honor of the fifth-year anniversary, they have not given up hope that her remains will be found. A probate judge officially declared her dead late last year.
"For us, five years is not a milestone but a marker of cumulative loss and longing," said Carrie Luft, spokesperson for the family of Jennifer Farber Dulos; see the full statement below. "Life goes on, yet grief goes on alongside it, a shadow, a current, the presence of absence."

The occasion is always a somber one, but this year is different, due to the conviction in March of Michelle Troconis, the former girlfriend of Fotis Dulos, who was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder in the case.
Troconis is currently being held on bond as she awaits her sentencing in the case, which is scheduled for May 31. In addition to the conspiracy charge, she was also convicted of:

- Tampering with physical evidence (2 counts)
- Conspiracy to commit to tampering with physical evidence
- Hindering prosecution
Luft did not mention Troconis in the statement, but in an exclusive interview this week with WTNH-TV, Gloria Farber, Jennifer's mother, said she was "amazed" that a jury found Troconis guilty of all counts. Farber, who testified during the trial, also said she believes Troconis has been lying about her innocence.
"Oh, absolutely," Farber told WTNH-TV, when asked if she thinks Troconis lied. "I think she knows where Jennifer is also, or her remains."
Troconis is appealing her conviction, and she and her family have steadfastly proclaimed her innocence since her arrest in June 2019. A trial for a second defendant in the conspiracy to commit murder case, former friend of Fotis Dulos', Kent Mawhinney, has not yet been scheduled; he has pleaded not guilty.
Below is the full statement from Carrie Luft, marking the fifth anniversary of the disappearance and death of Jennifer Farber Dulos:
As of May 24, Jennifer Farber Dulos has been gone for five years. We miss her every day, in every way. There are so many daily reminders of Jennifer—a shared reference, a musical riff, a delighted laugh, a graceful silhouette in the distance. Her strength of character, her intelligence, and her tenacity live on in her children. She would be so very, very proud of the young adults they have become.
For us, five years is not a milestone but a marker of cumulative loss and longing. Life goes on, yet grief goes on alongside it, a shadow, a current, the presence of absence.
We hold fast in our belief that Jennifer’s body will be found. The investigation is active, and we are ever grateful to the Connecticut State Police and the state’s attorney’s office for their continuing work on this case.
In Jennifer’s memory, we encourage you to hug your loved ones; take time to listen to a child; play your favorite song; or send a note to brighten someone’s day.
We also urge those who can do so to donate to local organizations that support survivors of intimate partner violence, such as Interval House Hartford; and to organizations that work on behalf of missing and murdered women of color, such as the Black and Missing Foundation, National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, and many others.
Thank you very much for respecting the privacy of Jennifer’s family and loved ones.
