Map: New Bear Sighting Reported in Shelton
The Shelton Trails and Conservation is tracking the bear sightings being reported in Shelton.

*Not the bear seen in Shelton*
Since the first black bear sighting was reported in Shelton on April 30, there has been at least one more verified sighting on May 4.
According to the Shelton Trails and Conservation Bear Sighting Map, the bear was seen around 7:30 p.m. pushing around garbage cans on Daybreak Lane on May 4.

A sighting was also reported in the morning on May 5 but it has not been verified yet.

There has been an uptick in bear sighting reported across the state. Just today, an unusually aggressive bear suspected of chasing two people in Granby was euthanized.
If you see a bear:
- Enjoy it from a distance.
- Advertise your presence by shouting and waving your arms or walk slowly away.
- Never attempt to feed or attract bears.
