• Southbury orchard begins cleanup after nor'easter damage (wtnh.com) — Hidden Gem Orchard in Southbury is cleaning up significant tree and crop damage after last weekend's nor'easter, but it's still welcoming local visitors. Owner Jim Wargo says some apples and grapes were ruined by wind and excess rain, yet plenty of good fruit remains. The farm stand stays open Fridays through Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., through December.
   

• Southbury man gets probation in Brookfield Happy Landings shooting case (ctpost.com) — A Southbury man has been sentenced in Danbury Superior Court to a suspended one-year jail term and three years of probation for his role in a 2025 shooting at Brookfield's Happy Landings open space. Gerald Rutledge pleaded guilty to reduced misdemeanor assault and reckless endangerment charges after an altercation that left him and another person with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Prosecutors later dropped the related case against the other man involved.
