• With 1st CT Human West Nile Case Announced, How Has Mosquito Testing Gone In Stafford And Willington? (patch.com) — Stafford residents can take some comfort knowing that all 591 mosquitoes tested at the Cedar Swamp site have been negative for West Nile virus so far this season, even as Connecticut reports its first human case of 2026. Health officials still urge Stafford and nearby Willington residents to stay vigilant by preventing mosquito breeding around homes and using repellents, since virus-positive mosquitoes are peaking across many other communities statewide.
   

• Johnson Hospital, Parent Medical Group, Welcome New Acute Care President (patch.com) — Stafford's Johnson Memorial Hospital will now fall under the leadership of Dr. Robert Roose, newly named president of acute care for Trinity Health Of New England. His expanded role includes overseeing Johnson Memorial along with three other regional hospitals, with a focus on improving operations, collaboration, and long-term stability across the system.
   

• Saint Francis Hospital launches free prescription medication program for vulnerable residents (fox61.com subscription) — Stafford Springs residents relying on Johnson Memorial Hospital may see changes as new Trinity Health of New England acute care president Dr. Robert Roose now oversees that facility. From his base at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Roose has launched a free prescription medication program for uninsured, low-income patients with chronic illnesses, aiming to reduce financial barriers and improve access to essential drugs across the region.
