📰 News we're reading

• Man Found With Loaded Gun After Tip To Stamford Police: PD (patch.com) — Stamford police arrested a 39-year-old city resident after a tip led officers to find a loaded handgun in his crossbody bag near Soundview Avenue and Wardwell Street. The Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad, assisted by patrol and a K9, made the proactive arrest, and officials say such gun cases help keep Stamford safe while encouraging residents to use the Crimestopper tip line.

• $10,000 KENO Winner Sold In Stamford: CT Lottery (patch.com) — A New Haven resident just picked up a $10,000 KENO prize with a ticket bought at Shippan Corner Variety on Shippan Avenue in Stamford, putting a local shop in the lottery spotlight. The Connecticut Lottery notes KENO prizes can reach $1 million, depending on the game and wager, keeping Stamford retailers central to the action.

• CT providers work to curb HUSKY losses from 'Big Beautiful' bill (ctmirror.org) — Thousands of Stamford residents on HUSKY D could lose Medicaid coverage starting in January unless they meet new federal work and reporting rules. Stamford Health, Mayor Caroline Simmons' office, and local nonprofits are launching a HUSKY Stay Covered Task Force with door-knocking, on-site helpers, and volunteer opportunities to keep eligible residents insured and connected to care.
