Former Trumbull Cop Sentenced In Sex Assault Case
He will have to register as a sex offender.

TRUMBULL, CT — Retired Trumbull cop Michael Gonzalez will avoid prison time, but have to register as a sex offender after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and stalking a former member of the Trumbull Police Department cadet program.
Gonzalez was given a three year suspended sentence and three years of probation and pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sex assault, second-degree stalking and second-degree unlawful restraint, according to the Connecticut Post. He said at sentencing he didn't agree with all the facts of the case, but wanted it over with.
The mother of the victim said he was once a well-liked adviser for the teens in the cadet program, but he only thought of himself when he sexually assaulted her daughter.

Gonzalez resigned from the department in October 2018. He was arrested following two domestic incidents that involved a fellow female officer. He was granted a pretrial diversionary program, Officer Kaitlyn Arcamone had charges against her nolled and she was fired by the department.
State Police arrested Gonzalez in June after he allegedly used a police database to track down the girl, according to an arrest warrant. The teenage girl's mother contacted police and said that Gonzalez had sexually assaulted her daughter.

Gonzalez is the second supervisor from the program to be found guilty of sexually assaulting a cadet. Former Officer William Ruscoe was sentenced to 10 years in prison suspended after 30 months after he pleaded guilty in 2015 to sexually assaulting a teen in the program.
