West Haven Election Results 2021: Recount Looms In Mayoral Race
West Haven residents have cast their votes in the 2021 municipal election in a number of key races.

WEST HAVEN, CT — The hotly contested race for mayor in West Haven is heading to a recount.
Incumbent Democratic Mayor Nancy Rossi announced her victory just after 9 p.m., WTNH News 8 reported.
Rossi claimed a 24-vote victory over Republican challenger Barry Lee Cohen and said she welcomed the recount and believed the margin will stand, according to the New Haven Register.

Cohen, who is striving to become West Haven's first Republican mayor since 1991, told FOX 61 that he won't concede and welcomes the recount.

The CT GOP posted on Twitter that their count had Cohen in the lead. Either way, the race is going to a recount, they said.

(Original post) WEST HAVEN, CT — The polls have closed in West Haven and the votes are being counted to determine the winners of several key races, including mayor, city council and board of education.
In the race for mayor, Incumbent Democratic Mayor Nancy Rossi is being challenged by Republican City Councilman Barry Lee Cohen.
For Board of Education, residents can vote for up to three candidates. The Democratic candidates are: Kim Kenny, Patrick Egolum and Morgan Watts. The Republican candidates are: Patrick Moore, Jennifer L. Frost, and Tom Mansfield. Kerry-Ann Murphy is running as an Independent candidate and Rosa M. Richardson is a Petitioning Candidate.
For City Council, residents can vote for up to two At-Large candidates. The Democratic candidates are Ronald Quagliani and Gary Donovan. The Republican candidates are Thomas Dellacamera and Colleen O’Connor. George Monahan is running as an Independent candidate.
The City Council district races are as follows: 1st District) Democrat Bridgette Hoskie running unopposed; 2 District) Democrat Carol Soter and Republican Meli Garthwait; 3rd District) Democrat Sarah Ackbarali and Republican Michael Trupp; 4th District) Democrat Mitchell Gallignano and Republican Forrest Schell; 5th District) Democrat Robin Watt Hamilton, Republican Robert Wittkofske, and Independent candidate Deborah Bell; 6th District) Democrat Peter Massaro, Republican Michelle Konareski, and Independent candidate Shane Brown; 7th District) Democrat Trenee McGee, Republican Peter Sotere and Independent candidate Portia Bias; 8th District) Democrat Victor Borras, Republican Silvana Apicella, and Independent candidate Effie Prokopis; 9th District) Democrat Robert Bruneau and Republican Dennis Andrews; 10th District) Democrat Livia Talamelli and Republican Steven Johnstone.
The candidates for City Clerk are Democrat Patricia Horvath and Republican Penny Sutcliffe.
For Treasurer, the candidates are Democrat Michael P. Last, Republican Paul Grigas and Independent candidate Qaiyima H. McMillan.
The candidates for Tax Collector are Democrat Dorothy Chambrelli and Republican Joe Weber.
For Board of Assessment Appeals, residents can vote for up to two candidates. The Democratic candidates are Ruth Figueroa and Joseph Harvey. The Republican candidates are Dave Riccio Jr. and Ralph Biondi.
