Arlington Coronavirus Update: No Additional Deaths; 34 New Cases
Virginia Health Department reports the Arlington Health District experienced its biggest jump in new coronavirus cases since June 29.
ARLINGTON, VA — The Virginia Department of Health reported no new deaths in the Arlington Health District due to COVID-19, the disease associated with the new coronavirus. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the Arlington Health District stands at 134.
There are 34 new cases of COVID-19 in the Arlington Health District as of Tuesday morning, more than triple the number reported on Monday, which was 11. This is also the single greatest jump in the daily count of new cases since June 29, when 50 were reported. This brings the total number of cases in the health district to 2,660. In the health district, there are currently 422 hospitalized patients.
As of Tuesday, there are 72,443 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 1,977 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There are currently 6,817 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

There have been 17 coronavirus outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Tuesday, with 545 cases related to an outbreak. There have been 12 outbreaks at long term care facilities, two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings in Arlington. There have been 174 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington health care workers.

On Tuesday, Virginia health officials reported 27,760 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 5.2 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 913,295 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 6.8 percent positivity rate.
Globally, more than 13.1 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 573,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Tuesday morning. In the United States, more than 3.3 million people have been infected and over 135,000 people have died from COVID-19.

The breakdown by age is as follows:
- 0-9: 53 cases
- 10-19: 116 cases
- 20-29: 497 cases
- 30-39: 479 cases
- 40-49: 443 cases
- 50-59: 394 cases
- 60-69: 288 cases
- 70-79: 176 cases
- 80+: 203 cases
