Arlington Coronavirus Update: 1 Additional Death; 15 New Cases
Virginia Department of Health reported 15 additional cases of the new coronavirus in the Arlington Health District.
ARLINGTON, VA — The Virginia Department of Health reported Friday there was one new death in the Arlington Health District due to COVID-19, the disease associated with the new coronavirus. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the Arlington Health District stands at 133.
There are 15 new cases of COVID-19 in the Arlington Health District as of Friday morning, the highest jump in new cases since 17 were reported on Tuesday. This brings the total number of cases in the health district to 2,567.
In the health district, there are currently 425 hospitalized patients, two more than Thursday.

Arlington County reopened its drive-thru COVID-19 Sample Collection Site on Tuesday. The county is operating the 1429 N. Quincy Street site in partnership with Quest Diagnostics. Patients must be 18 and older to receive a test at this site, which is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Although no appointment is necessary, all patients must have an existing order fro COVID-19 testing from a licensed health care provider. Those coming to the site for testing must remain inside their cars.
As of Friday, there are 68,931 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 1,958 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There are currently 6,675 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

There have been 17 coronavirus outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Friday, with 543 cases related to an outbreak. There have been 12 outbreaks at long term care facilities, two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings in Arlington. There have been 173 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington health care workers.
On Friday, Virginia health officials reported 25,956 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Arlington, with a 4.9 percent positivity rate. Statewide there have been 846,912 COVID-19 tests taken, with a 6.1 percent positivity rate.
Globally, more than 12.2 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 555,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Friday morning. In the United States, more than 3.1 million people have been infected and over 133,000 people have died from COVID-19.

The breakdown by age is as follows:
- 0-9: 50 cases
- 10-19: 109 cases
- 20-29: 458 cases
- 30-39: 466 cases
- 40-49: 438 cases
- 50-59: 385 cases
- 60-69: 287 cases
- 70-79: 175 cases
- 80+: 203 cases
