The Sarasota Police Department says a 42-year-old grandmother may face charges in a Tuesday morning pedestrian crash that sent her and her 1 1/2-year-old grandson to local hospitals.
Arrest Made In St. Pete Homicide
The long arm of the law has caught up with a man wanted in connection with an April 7 homicide in St. Petersburg. According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force found Juan Carlos Jimenez, 33, hiding out at a family member’s home in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.

The number crunchers at U.S. News & World Report have released their annual rankings of the “Best High Schools” in the country. While Florida only had one entry in the Top 10 nationally, the Sunshine State does have a number of standout schools, according to the publication.
Woman Dies After Car Forced Off St. Pete Road, Police Say
The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a Tuesday morning crash that left a 40-year-old woman dead. According to the agency, April Morrow of St. Petersburg was a passenger in a Nissan Murano driven by her sister Tina Morrow, 37. The vehicle was traveling on 16th Avenue South around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday when police say the Murano “was forced off of the roadway and into a telephone pole by another vehicle.”
Tampa Bay’s Top High Schools Ranked
U.S. News & World Report has crunched the numbers to create its annual rankings of the “Best High Schools” in the country. While only one school in the Tampa Bay region made the national Top 10 list, a number of local schools did do well in statewide rankings.
