Good and Evil in Education System–Follow Money Trail–Surprise Insights

According to BrainyQuotes: “Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.” Sun Tzu. Other variations of that quote exist. Some might think, ‘but I don’t have enemies.’ Sure you do. We all have enemies, whether we realize it or not. Those that seek to control, manipulate, dominate or otherwise mislead us are obviously our enemies. Education on some level is a lifelong experience. Education can be formal or informal. Both are important. Some insights into education will follow.

Let me briefly note that I’m not opposed to formal education, my father - Dr. Francis J. Kovach, Ph.D. - was during his day a professor whose work was known on multiple continents around the world. He was invited to speak at international conferences here and abroad on numerous occasions. There was a point in my youth that I seriously considered becoming a professor, but that’s another story.

I’ve watch both of these two videos posted with this article that deal with education. Each has strengths and weaknesses, but in my view, there are sufficient strengths that they are worthy of sharing. Each gives examples and sources. Let’s hit a theme that everyone should make a part of their worldview. The ancient and wise principle of separating the wheat from the chaff. When we realize that humans have flaws not just in our minds, but also in our hearts, we have learned an important insight into living. We must know ourselves objectively. We must know ‘our enemies’ objectively too. That was part of the takeaway from Sun Tzu’s thinking.

In pondering the chat that follow, keep in mind that AI can and does make mistakes. I’ve had AI, specifically Copilot, admit its mistakes in follow up. Be prepared to separate the wheat from the chaff in life - always.

What Copilot highlighted is the importance of each of those topics named are the subject of multiple university level courses. Yet there is no single introductory class on that in any university? If there is no college or university level class, is it likely that any teacher in the U.S. would cover those topics in their class during the course of a semester or year?
