St. Pete Crime Rates Declined In 2025: Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Overall crime dropped 16 percent in St. Petersburg last year, police said in a news release.

The city saw just 10 homicides in 2025 — the lowest number recorded in St. Pete since 1967, when there were six homicides, according to statistics reported as part of the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting data.

That's 44 percent lower than the number of homicides in 2024 (18) and 44 percent less than the five-year average.

Auto thefts were also down 29 percent last year and fatal crashes are down 31 percent.

"I'm pleased that the hard work of our officers and detectives, along with the use of the latest crime-fighting technology, is paying off and the numbers prove it," Chief Anthony Holloway said.
Crime statistics for 2025:

• Homicides -10 (five-year average is 18)
• Robbery - 175 (five-year average is 224)
• Auto Theft - 406 (five-year average is 735)
• Fatal Crashes - 24 (compared to 35 last year)
