Police: Wrong-Way Driver Almost Struck Deputy
The woman was charged with driving under the influence.

Another wrong-way driver has been jailed in Hillsborough County. This time the driver almost struck a deputy head on.
The incident happened around 2:53 a.m. Sunday when deputies say Yamaris Torres Gonzalez of Tampa was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Waters Avenue. At the same time, a deputy was heading westbound on Waters near Anderson Road.
When the deputy spotted the woman, he stopped her.

Gonzalez had alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated. She ultimately blew .187 and .199 in a breathalyzer test, the email stated.
Gonzalez was charged with driving under the influence.

Wrong-way driving incidents have been blamed for 11 deaths so far this year.
