🗓️ Atlanta apartment hunting? Put the payments on a calendar

You found an apartment you love. Now ask: what is due, and when? 🗓️

Hey Atlanta, it’s Kenny! A clear payment timeline can make an apartment comparison much easier, especially when your move date falls in the middle of a month.

Ask each property for a written breakdown for the exact apartment, move-in date and lease term you’re considering. Then organize the numbers into three groups:

BEFORE MOVE-IN: What is due to apply, reserve the apartment or collect the keys? Ask which amounts are refundable and under what conditions.

FIRST BILL: Does it cover a partial month, a full month or another period? Which one-time and recurring charges appear on it?

ONGOING MONTHS: What is the regular rent, which mandatory charges recur, and what is billed separately or based on usage?

If a special is offered, ask exactly when and how the credit appears. A quoted average over the lease may not be the amount you actually pay each month. Leave any unconfirmed charge marked unknown rather than treating it as zero.

You don’t need to post bank statements or account details to compare apartments. Start with the property’s written figures and the dates attached to them.
