• Over dozen Georgia hospitals to receive funds to avoid closing, keep staff (wsbtv.com) — Appling General Hospital in Baxley is set to receive federal grant funding aimed at keeping rural hospitals open and retaining doctors and nurses. The money, part of a new nationwide program backed by Sen. Jon Ossoff, is intended to offset recent Medicaid cuts and help preserve emergency and inpatient services that Baxley-area residents rely on.
