Kevin Gentry, 22, has been linked to 2 more commercial burglaries near BridgeMill and is charged with manufacturing an destructive device.

More charges have been brought against the Canton man arrested in connection with two burglaries on Sixes Road in unincorporated Canton.

Kevin Gentry, 22, who was charged last week with two counts of commercial burglary, has now been hit with two more commercial burglary charges: one at Subway at 3775 Sixes Road on Oct. 13 and BridgeMill Auto Care at 9010 Bells Ferry Road on Nov. 23, said Cherokee Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker.

Other new charges filed against Gentry are two counts of possession of a weapon during certain crimes for having a knife with blade longer than three inches, possession of a dangerous drug, an additional possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and manufacturing a destructive device.

“While conducting a search warrant on his vehicle yesterday, detectives found a small homemade explosive device,” Baker stated. “The GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s) Bomb Squad removed the device from the vehicle and disabled it.”

Furthermore, detectives with the Canton Police Department are investigating Gentry for at least one possible commercial burglary that occurred in its jurisdiction, Baker said.

Gentry remains in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, and his current bond has grown to $102,800, the spokesperson said.

Deputies on Friday, Dec. 5 were dispatched to a burglary call at Marco’s Pizza at 3725 Sixes Road. Once they arrived onto the scene, deputies found a rock had been thrown through its front door and the cash drawer missing, Baker previously told Patch.

Those deputies also discovered the establishment next door — Bio-Tech Cleaners — had its front door shattered and its cash drawer taken from the business.

Sheriff’s detectives were able to find a finger print at the pizza restaurant, which was subsequently matched to Gentry. A search warrant was obtained for Gentry’s home in the BridgeMill subdivision, and detectives uncovered evidence that allegedly linked him to the crimes, the sheriff’s office said.

Gentry’s arrest comes on the heels of an early Saturday morning armed robbery of CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Bells Ferry and Sixes roads.

A suspect armed with a gun and wearing a ski mask on Dec. 6 took an undisclosed amount of cash and personal items from the store clerk before locking the employee inside a bathroom and fleeing the business.
