Car Slams Into School Cafeteria in Canton
The vehicle crashed into the exterior wall of ACE Academy, which caused significant damage to the school's cafeteria.

CANTON, GA -- No students were injured when a vehicle crashed into the ACE Academy building Thursday morning in Canton.
The Cherokee County School District said a vehicle "crossed a grassy area" at the school around 10:30 a.m. Feb. 16 and hit the exterior wall of the former Teasley Middle School, causing significant damage to the cafeteria, said spokesperson Carrie McGowan.
Fortunately, no students were inside the cafeteria, since the collision took place before lunch time. Additionally, all school nutrition employees were inside the kitchen at the time of the crash.

No students or employees were injured, McGowan added.
"It is believed the driver of the vehicle suffered a medical emergency upon entering the parking area and subsequently lost control of the vehicle," she added.

The driver and the passenger, who were parents arriving at the school to pick up a child, were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
As a result, the roughly 275 students in grades 6 through 12 at ACE were served lunch in the school gym.
Engineers will conduct an evaluation of the cafeteria before crews can embark on repairs. This means ACE students and staff will continue on the alternate plan of having breakfast and lunch in the gym for the duration of the repairs, the system added.
