Jayquan Marquice Cromartie, 21, earlier this month accepted a negotiated guilty plea to one count of armed robbery and received a 10-year sentence. The first two years will be served in confinement while the rest of the sentence will be served on probation, according to court records.
Cromartie will receive credit for time served since his arrest on Dec. 26, 2014, however.

While on probation, Cromartie must pay the probation supervisory fee; perform 100 hours of community service; have no contact with fellow suspect Demarcus S. Jones, the two additional teen accomplices or the two victims; receive treatment for substance abuse; not consume alcohol or narcotic drugs unless lawfully prescribed; not associate with anyone who uses or possesses illegal drugs; not occupy a home where alcohol or drugs are present; and not consume alcohol and operate a motor vehicle.
Cromartie and Jones, along with two underage teenagers, were arrested in connection to the armed robbery of two 15-year-old boys in the Prominence Parkway area.
Officers with the Canton Police Department responded to a suspicious activity call in the area just after 7 p.m. Dec. 25, 2014.
Officers met with the victims, who said they were robbed at gunpoint of their cell phones.
A be-on-the-lookout alert was given to surrounding agencies, and a sergeant with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office spotted two men on foot who matched the description of the suspects.
Canton officers arrived and conducted what’s called a ”show-up” line up, which one of the victims were able to positively identify the two men of interest as suspects in the case. Two additional teenagers — a 14-year-old and 15-year-old — were also located, identified, arrested and charged with armed robbery in the case.
A Cherokee County grand jury in January indicted both Jones and Cromartie on one count of armed robbery.
According to the indictment, the defendants were accused of taking an Apple iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 from two residents ”by the use of a Powerline by Daisy 415 pistol, a device having the appearance of a deadly weapon.”
