Mom, 4 Kids Escape Cherokee House Fire
The three-story home suffered smoke, water and fire damage Thursday afternoon in eastern Cherokee County.
CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA -- A Cherokee County family is safe after its members were able to escape a house fire without injuries Thursday afternoon.
Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, along with the Milton Fire Department, responded to a residential fire around 2:39 p.m. March 30 in the 700 block of Tellico Road in the eastern part of the county.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke flowing from the three-story home.

One of the homeowners, a 31-year-old woman, was inside the house with her four children, a five-year-old boy, twin three-year-old girls and a 19-month-old male toddler.
They were all able to evacuate the home without any injuries, Cherokee County fire said. The woman's husband was at work at the time of the fire.

The agency said workers in the basement reported fire coming from an electrical box and they "immediately notified the homeowner."
Firefighters were able to put a stop on the fire before the home was destroyed. The inside of the structure received smoke, water and fire damage, however.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by investigators.
