Investigators with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office in December 2014 arrested Gentry and initially charged him with burglarizing Marco’s Pizza at 3725 Sixes Road and Bio-Tech Cleaners at 3290 Sixes Road.
Soon after the arrest, sheriff’s office investigators linked him to burglaries that occurred at Subway at 3775 Sixes Road on or around Aug. 3, Oct. 13 and Nov. 24, 2014; and BridgeMill Auto Care at 9010 Bells Ferry Road on or around Nov. 24, 2014.
He’s also tied to an alleged burglary at Subway, which is located at 4047 Marietta Highway. Gentry is accused of burglarizing that eatery on or about Dec. 5, 2014.
Gentry’s alleged crimes came to light when sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a burglary call Dec. 5 at Marco’s Pizza.
Once they arrived onto the scene, deputies ”discovered a rock had been thrown through the front door and the cash drawer was missing from the business,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker previously told Patch.
While at the business, those deputies also discovered the business next door — Bio-Tech Cleaners — also had its “front door shattered by a rock and the cash register was missing,” Baker stated.
Sheriff’s detectives were able to find a finger print at the pizza restaurant, which was subsequently matched to Gentry. A search warrant was obtained for Gentry’s home in the BridgeMill subdivision, and detectives uncovered evidence that allegedly linked him to the crimes, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives also found a small homemade explosive device allegedly in Gentry’s vehicle.
The device, which, according to the indictment, was a silver canister filled with gun powder and an attached fuse, had to be removed and disabled by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Bomb Squad.
After reviewing other commercial burglaries in the area, detectives charged Gentry in connection to the burglaries of Subway at 3775 Sixes Road that occurred on or around Oct. 13, 2014, and BridgeMill Auto Care at 9010 Bells Ferry Road, which allegedly occurred on or around Nov. 23, 2014, Baker stated.
This latest indictment also ties to Gentry with allegedly burglarizing the Marathon Gas-Mountain Express Oil at 6742 Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock on or around Aug. 5, 2014; 19th Hole Chevron at 10490 Bells Ferry Road in Canton on or around Aug. 5, Sept. 25 and Nov. 21, 2014; Mountain Express Chevron at 11429 Bells Ferry Road in Canton on or around Aug. 5; and LA Pawn Shop at 6215 Bells Ferry Road in Acworth on or around Nov. 21.
