Around 6:30 p.m. May 25, Holly Springs officer Naveed Babar responded to an unknown trouble call in the parking lot of a grocery store in the city limits.
Once arrived at the store, he found an unresponsive man, who was exhibiting labored breathing, lying outside a vehicle, Holly Springs police said.

Babar was advised that the 22-year-old victim was possibly suffering from a drug overdose. Upon hearing this information, Babar administered a dose of naloxone to the patient, who ”quickly became alert on (the) scene and was transported for further treatment,” the agency said.
Used in hospitals for decades, nalaxone has no abuse potential and can be administered with basic training. The medication is useful to temporarily reverse an overdose of heroin, codeine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, methadone, morphine and oxycodone.
Holly Springs officers in June 2014 were issued doses of naloxone and were trained in how to use the drug. This event is the fifth time officers have deployed the tool to save a life.
