Her family asks attendees to wear white, stay for the reception, and consider memorial gifts to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association. 
• Matthew 25 Alliance seeks volunteers to man warming centers this winter (nowgeorgia.com) — Cornelia volunteers are needed to help staff winter warming centers serving people in Habersham and White counties, with a lunch-and-learn training at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11 at First Baptist Church in Cornelia. Attendees will share a meal, hear about different volunteer roles, and can RSVP online to get involved before cold weather arrives.
• Brenda Faye Barnes (habershamnews.com) — Cornelia neighbors are mourning the passing of longtime resident Brenda Cape Barnes, 80, whose funeral will be held Monday, October 5 at 11 a.m. at Whitfield Funeral Home North Chapel in Demorest. Friends may visit the family Sunday afternoon, and they’re invited to honor her memory through donations to Alzheimer’s, breast cancer research, or St. George’s Episcopal School.
