2 Men Charged After Hiram Drug Bust

The two men are accused of trafficking methamphetamine and other drugs, authorities said.

HIRAM, GA — Two men are in jail on drug charges after Paulding County authorities said a large number of drugs and a gun were seized in October.

The Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force led the seizure on Oct. 27 in the 400 block of Dogwood Path. The agency was helping the Georgia Department of Community Supervision with a probation search of a mobile home, authorities said Wednesday.

During the search, about 932 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 105 grams of suspected heroin and about 946 grams of suspected marijuana were found along with a Glock 40 caliber handgun, multiple extended capacity magazines and one drum magazine, authorities said.

Donald Ray "Duck" Smith, 46, and Charles Kenneth Pilgrim, 67, both face violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act charges, authorities said.

Smith was charged on suspicion of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, authorities said. The firearm possession charge is not a VGCSA charge.

Pilgrim is charged on suspicion of trafficking methamphetamine, authorities said.

Both Smith and Pilgrim are in the Paulding County Jail, authorities said. Smith is being held on no bond, and Pilgrim is being held on a $33,200 bond, authorities said.
