3,528 Arrests, 2017 Stats Released By Paulding Sheriff's Office

​The Paulding County Sheriff's Office provides an update and 2017 stats., including 3,528 arrests and more than 650 burglaries.

PAULDING COUNTY, GA — Sgt. Ashley Henson, of the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, provided a 2018 first quarter update and police statistics for 2017 Thursday.

There were more than 61,000 calls for service, 3,528 arrests, more than 650 burglaries and more than 500 cases of people illegally entering autos. Deputies made more than 8,800 traffic stops, handed out more than 4,800 citations and patrolled 2,917,779 miles. There were also 3,275 accidents within Paulding County in 2017.

Henson thanked the community for helping with the 19th annual Cops for Kids Christmas shopping event. "Throughout the month of December, the Cops for Kids program also helped multiple families with everything from groceries to diapers to clothing," he said. "Thank you to everyone who donated their time, money and other resources to help make the Cops for Kids Christmas shopping program another huge success. Without the assistance from our generous businesses and citizens, this program would not be a success, like it is every year.

On behalf of Sheriff Gary Gulledge, Henson also thanked the citizens from Paulding County for overwhelmingly supported and voted for the bond referendum in the Nov. 2016 general election, which approved the design and construction of a new sheriff's office and jail for Paulding County.

"This was desperately needed," he said, "because our current jail is 28 years old and has many problems. The sheriff's office and jail project is still in the design phases and will hopefully break ground sometime in the first quarter of 2018. The new facility will sit adjacent to the new courthouse on US 278 in Dallas.

Henson said the Paulding County Sheriff's Office is hiring.
