6th Annual Jack Steele Memorial Golf Tournament

Hey folks!

I am in charge of a Charity Golf Tournament that will support Fairways For Warriors, https://fairwaysforwarriors.org/. This group is based out of Orlando. Six years ago, Creekside's Mens Golf Association wanted to honor Jack Steele a former member who passed on the 12th hole, so we organized a golf tournament. The first tournaments were used to raise money for a defibrillator for the course. Then a couple years ago, Jack's family and the organizers came across this organization and thought it would be great to raise some money for them. Fairways for Warriors thanks in part to these tournaments is getting ready to open their first Training and Life Center just outside the Orlando area on May 21st. The grand opening will be covered by the Golf Channel and some of the highlights will be shown on the Golf Channel's Morning Drive program on May 22nd. The concept of the TLC is to provide veterans a place to meet, have a little fun, exercise and/or simply relax and get away from the everyday stresses life can provide. Of course the focus is around golf, but hopefully it will be about much more when it opens.

This year will be the 6th Annual Jack Steele Memorial Golf Tournament. The event is a two day two person scramble. We have a lot of fun. There are raffles, closest to the pin prizes, putting contest, chipping contest and much more. Each day breakfast will be served and there will be a lunch on Sunday. The cost for the event is $125 per person or a company can sponsor a hole for $100, or both a hole and a twosome for $300. Of course any donations are accepted.

This year, Fairways for Warriors will be sending four veterans up to participate in the event. I had a chance to talk with these guys last year and it was really inspiring to hear how golf and Fairways has impacted their lives. It is also important that Jack's family comes into town to join in the festivities. He left a positive impression on many of us at Creekside and this tournament is another way of extending his love for golf and life to others.
