Griffin was operating a green 2008 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle heading east on Windy Hill Road at approximately 6:23 p.m. Thursday when a white 2004 Kia Optima in the westbound lane of Windy Hill Road attempted to turn left onto Favor Road, directly in Griffin’s path.

The driver of the Optima, 50-year-old Maria T. Howard of Marietta, was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital along with her 15-year-old daughter, who was in the passenger seat at the time of the collision. Both sustained non life-threatening injuries, Pierce said.

Police will likely file charges against Howard, Pierce said. Anyone with information on this collision is asked to contact police at (770) 499-3987.
