College Student From Dallas Killed In Head-On Crash
The collision, which killed two Georgia Southern University students, happened early Sunday morning on Interstate 16 near Dublin.

DALLAS, GA — A Georgia Southern University student from Dallas was one of two people killed early Sunday, when a wrong-way driver slammed into the car in which he was riding.
Garrett Harris, 18, died in the wreck on Interstate 16 near Dublin at about 1:15 a.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol. The driver, Jack Deacon Harris, 20, of Kennesaw, also was killed in the crash.
According to the state patrol, Jared Adler, 27, of Sandy Springs, was driving his Toyota Avalon westbound in the left-eastbound lane of the highway. He hit the Saturn that Harris was driving, causing it to burst into flames.

Both victims died at the scene, the state patrol said. Adler was taken to Navicent Health medical center in Macon to be treated for his injuries.
"The Georgia Southern University community is saddened to learn of the accident that resulted in the loss of two of our students, Garrett Harris and Jack Deacon Harris," university spokeswoman Jennifer Wise said in a written statement. "Our deepest sympathies go out to their family and friends and our thoughts are with them during this time. Counseling is available for our students as we all grieve this tragedy."

The investigation was ongoing Tuesday morning and charges in the crash were pending, according to a state patrol spokesperson. Patch will update this post with more information as it becomes available.
