The commission voted 3-2 on a resolution to withdraw an application to the FAA for commercialization of Silver Comet Field.

Paulding County commissioners voted Tuesday night to pull back its support for commercializing Silver Comet Field.

Commission Chairman David Austin continues to be a supporter of the plan, the newspaper reported.
The Commission announced in October 2013 an agreement with Propeller Investments to develop a second metro-Atlanta commercial airport in the county, which included renaming Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport to Silver Comet Field. But the idea has been met with opposition from county residents, City of Atlanta and Delta Air Lines, the AJC reported.

The county is a co-sponsor of the airport along with the Paulding County Airport.
Supporters have said a new commercial airport in Paulding would bring hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of jobs over the next decade.
The Journal-Constitution reported it’s unclear what Tuesday’s vote will mean for the airport commercialization application.
