Dallas-Hiram Election Results: Jail Bond, Sunday Sales Approved
Paulding County voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump in the presidential election.

DALLAS, GA — A bond issue to build a new county jail was approved by Paulding County voters on Tuesday night.
The yes vote to pay for the new facility won by more than 10,000 votes, 34,973 to 24,729.
A "yes" vote authorizes county officials to take out $77 million of bonds for the new construction.

Sheriff Gary Gulledge and other county officials say the current jail, which is nearly 30 years old, is rundown and overcrowded — sometimes housing as many as 320 inmates in a facility build for 200.
In another ballot initiative, Paulding voters approved Sunday beer and wine sales in unincorporated areas. The issue was approved, 42,402 to 20,856.

In the presidential election, Paulding went overwhelmingly for Republican Donald Trump over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Trump got 44,646 votes in Paulding, compared to 18,004 for Clinton.
