Dallas Teen Dies After Being Shot: Police

A 17-year-old teen has been accused and charged with murder in connection with the case.

DALLAS, GA — A Carroll County teen is being accused of shooting and killing a Paulding County teen Saturday, authorities said.

According to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, Carson Nathanial Kennedy, 17, turned himself into authorities without incident Sunday night and is being charged with murder in connection with the case.

Paulding deputies responded to the Southern Oaks Subdivision around 3:30 p.m. Saturday on an "assault in progress" call, according to the sheriff's office.

After they arrived, deputies found a 17-year-old boy in a loft apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the sheriff's office. Law enforcement said the suspect had already fled the scene.

The boy who was shot was taken to Wellstar Paulding Hospital, where he later died, according to the sheriff's office.

A motive in the cause is unknown at the moment.

Kennedy is being held in the Paulding County Jail without bond.
