- A former Hiram daycare owner was arrested again due to what officials say is the discovery of more evidence of child abuse. Goldia Marie Lipsky was arrested a second time following her initial arrest last month. Deputies investigated her security videos, which allegedly show abuse of five children ranging in age from nine months old to three years old. Lipsky is now accused of 17 counts of child abuse and is under further investigation. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- The aggressor in a road rage incident reportedly accidentally shot himself in the hand on Thursday. Deputies learned that individuals were making a lumber delivery with the help of traffic directors. The suspect, who was the alleged aggressor in the incident and who witnesses said appeared annoyed by the delay, got out of his vehicle and pointed his gun at the men who were directing traffic. Deputies believe he accidentally shot himself in the hand as he was re-holstering his pistol and getting back into his car. (Paulding County Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
- A fire raged for hours at the intersection of Goldmine Road and GA 101 N yesterday. Fire crews arrived in the early morning hours and asked residents to avoid the area as deputies have the roads closed for the fire department. The source of the fire is presently unknown. - Paulding Public Safety Appreciation, Inc.'s 10th Annual Run with the Badfges 5k Glow Run is coming up in June. The annual event will take place on Friday, Jun. 2 at 9 a.m.; gates open at 6:00 a.m. (Paulding Public Safety Appreciation, Inc. via Facebook)
- To celebrate Black History Month, Hiram High School will use the month to spotlight staff who attended Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
