Early Voting For GA's Presidential Primary Underway In Paulding

Early voting is taking place across Georgia now through March 20.

DALLAS, GA—Advance voting for the March 24 Presidential Preference Primary kicked off Monday and will run through March 20. The primary will take place on Tuesday, March 24.

For the very first time, voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballots on the state's new voting machines on March 24. Georgia recently replaced its first-generation electronic voting machines voters had used since 2002.

When voters head to the polls in a few weeks, they will still select their candidate on touchscreen devices; however, the process will also include a paper ballot for them to review and cast in tamper-proof ballot boxes, according to Georgia's Secretary of State.

State officials say the new paper-ballot voting has been used in a pilot during municipal elections in November and in two special elections this year. A pair of public audits verified the accuracy of the system, and public audits will be routine beginning with this fall's general election.
