GreyStone to host seminar on saving energy
Learn how to do your own home energy audit at this free event on April 14.

GreyStone Power Corporation members who want to lower their energy use in time for summer bills can take advantage of a free seminar. The cooperative will host Energy Efficiency 101 (EE101), a seminar that teaches simple steps for saving energy at home, on Tuesday, April 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The seminar will be held at GreyStone’s main office in Douglasville, located at 4040 Bankhead Highway.
EE101 is led by GreyStone’s Residential Energy Services department and guides members on how to perform their own home energy audits, giving them the tools they need to take energy saving steps before summer bills start.
GreyStone members June and Stephen Keen have attended a past EE101 seminar, and June said she enjoyed the “show and tell” with examples of energy savers. “Steve and I learned a lot just by being there, listening, asking questions and especially through the talks given. It was well worth our time in attending and we appreciate GreyStone very much for presenting these opportunities,” she said.

Since then, June has taken proactive steps to lower her power bill, including transitioning to LED light bulbs and placing an attic tent over the stairwell for her attic. “We can tell this has saved energy in summer and in winter,” she said.
Members who would like to participate should register online for the event through GreyStone’s website, www.greystonepower.com. For questions, call 770-370-2252. For those who want to prepare their homes for the colder months, the next EE101 seminar will be held Nov. 10.
