The Work Session for January 27, 2015 of the City of Hiram was called to order at 6:00pm by Mayor Doris A. Devey in the Hiram City Hall Training Room.
Meeting attendees: Mayor Doris Devey, Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Bookout, Councilperson Derrick Battle, Councilperson Kathy Carter, Councilperson Teresa Philyaw, Councilperson Pep Rollins, Robbie Rokovitz, Kelly Hundley, Chief VandeZande, Jason James, Cynthia Geyer, Herb Haynes, Helene Fitzgerald, Carmen Rollins, Bob Bookout, Gary Weekley, Teresa Atsalis, Chuck Gesalin, Janet Turner, Blake Stephen, Joey McCollough, Earlene Graham, Keith Graham, Buddy Harrelson.

Rich Erdman gave the Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Mrs. Philyaw, Council Post 3, requested an amendment to the Agenda. The motion to amend was to table item #5 on the FY15 Budget Amendments until the Special Session meeting on February 10th. The motion passed unanimously.
- Mr. James Whitaker presented the FY2014 Audit.
- Discussion on the Sign Variance Application submitted by Pacific Dental Services. Public Hearing scheduled for Feb 3 2015
- Discussion on Towne Park Subdivision, Seaboard Township, and Seaboard Avenue concerning Property deeds and responsibility of Infrastructure maintenance.
- Reviewed Playground replacement proposals for Ben Hill Strickland Sr. Memorial Park.
- Update and discussion on the Sewer Project.
- Discussion on expanding the number of parking spaces in the proposed City Hall parking lot. Mrs. Philyaw presented a drawing showing a possible way to create up to 20 more parking spaces.
- Mr. Rokovitz discussed the procedure and purpose for establishing a Homestead Exemption if the Council ever wished to consider putting the Exemption in place.
- Mr. Hundley presented the information concerning a request to amend the Alcohol Ordinance to increase distance between Retail Stores. Special Use permitting was discussed as a possible option.
- Mr. Rokovitz reviewed the Certificate of Deposit reinvestment rates.
- Mayor Devey announced that the Notice of Election was published in last Thursday’s Dallas New Era. Dog Park meeting will be on Thursday at 4:00pm. The Regular Session will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
