Hiram High's Jared McClain Nominated for 'Good Works'

Now at Eastern Kentucky, the QB is in the running for the AllState American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team.

A former Hiram High School standout has been nominated for the AllState American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team.

Jared McClain, a quarterback at Eastern Kentucky University, is one of 182 nominated for the award, called the most prestigious off-the-field honor in college football. McClain is a public relations major.

  • Raising money for the Hoops for Heroes campaign to send EKU military veteran to the OVC basketball tournament.
  • Speaking to children at the local elementary school about test preparation.
  • Serving as the football team’s representative on the EKU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

The 22 winners — 11 from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 from smaller divisions — will be named in September.
