Hiram Police Looking For Bank Robbery Suspect

Hiram police say a man entered the bank wearing a wide, brimmed hat and shades. He then handed a bank employee a note demanding money.

HIRAM, GA—Police in Hiram are searching for a man who they say robbed the SunTrust bank on Metromont Road Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 11 a.m., police said they quickly responded to a robbery in process at the bank. However, by the time police arrived, they say the suspect had already fled the scene.

According to police, a white man entered the bank wearing a wide, brimmed hat and shades. He spent several minutes inside while appearing to be speaking on his cell phone. Eventually, police said he approached one of the employees and displayed a note demanding money.

After collecting the money, the man suspect fled the bank, leaving the immediate
area on foot, bank employees said.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery.

Surveillance video from surrounding businesses showed that the suspect had parked a dark-colored SUV nearby, approached the bank on foot, and a short time later, ran from the bank back to his vehicle, police said.

The suspect then fled the scene in his SUV, a dark-colored Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban, with chrome trim and a chrome grille.
