Lake Allatoona Drowning Victim Identified
The victim, from Snellville, drowned Sunday afternoon while swimming from the shore.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has identified the man who drowned while swimming in Lake Allatoona Sunday afternoon.
Ryan Tyndall, 26, of Snellville, was swimming in the Allatoona Landing area around 4 p.m. when the incident occurred.
DNR units, along with Bartow County Fire, Rescue and EMS officials, arrived onto the scene by 4:13 p.m., said spokesperson Mark McKinnon.

Tyndall reportedly drowned “as he was swimming from shore chasing a float,” McKinnon added. His body was recovered around 4:34 p.m. by DNR officers who used body dragging equipment.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the drowning was the 27th this year in Georgia and fifth at Allatoona.

Tyndall was not wearing a life preserver.
