Night Work on Ga. 92 in Hiram Starts Friday
The resurfacing work is expected to take a month to complete, according to the DOT.

HIRAM, GA -- Work resurfacing Ga. 92 in Hiram is set to start on Friday.
Department of Transportation contractors will be working every night from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. to resurface Ga. 92 from the Douglas County line to US 278/Ga. 6 in Paulding County.
The night-construction operation is expected to take a month to complete.

Drivers on this portion of the highway are likely to encounter speed restrictions, stop-and-go traffic, single-lane closures and possible delays, the DOT says. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid creating congestion in the project area during night hours.
"Georgia DOT wants to constrict traffic flow in this area as little as possible, but delays at times are almost unavoidable," said Mohamed Arafa, communications officer at the DOT office in Cartersville. "We have made every effort to minimize the impact this construction project has on the heavy traffic in the area."

Georgia DOT awarded a contract to W. Matthews Contracting Company, Inc. of Marietta, valued at nearly $2 million to resurface an 8-mile portion of the highway.
This construction project is scheduled to be entirely completed by the end of October 2016.
