Patching Work on Ga. 61 Will Slow Traffic

The work is going on daily, from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., through Friday.

DALLAS, GA — Maintenance crews have resumed their work repairing and patching asphalt spots on State Route 61 in Paulding County.

The work will proceed every day through Friday, from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

It is forcing traffic to be paced along the highway, causing delays in both directions.

"It is the Georgia DOT policy to repair and maintain Georgia interstates and state highways promptly,
efficiently and economically using well-planned activities such as deep patching, proper equipment, and
skilled and dedicated employees," the Department of Transportation said in a news releaes. "Prompt repair of small asphalt pavement defects has significant impacts on reducing maintenance costs."

Motorists are asked to drive carefully when traveling through the work area.
