Paulding Deputy Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident
The accident happened Thursday around 9:30 p.m. on Hiram-Douglasville Highway.

A Paulding County deputy en route to a low-priority call struck and killed a pedestrian in an accident Thursday night, the sheriff’s office reported.

The deputy, who has not been identified, struck the woman around 9:50 p.m. on Hiram-Douglasville Highway close to Seaboard Street, Cpl. Ashley Henson said in a news release.
The victim has been identified as Ashley Donaldson, 24, who died later at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. Donaldson was crossing the highway close to the bridge near Seaboard Street when the accident happened.

“The Deputy was en route to a low priority call and was traveling at normal speeds according to witnesses,” Henson said in the news release. “The Deputy did not have his emergency equipment activated at the time of the accident.”
The accident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, Henson said.
No other information was immediately released.
